Food Independence
All About Me
#Watching my family from a young age
# In the U.K. my Grandmother grew food in in her garden. I was impressed by her ability to grow any food as if my magic. Every time I would try to recreate her ability I would come up short.
# In Barbados, my family grew food and even kept animals at the back of the land.
# Growing up in the 90's and early 2000's had a number of social environmental influences. You would hear a lot about renewable technologies and self sustainability on the TV, YouTube and News.
# I also found out about Earthships and even helped to build one in Spain.
# Urban homesteading, and wood chip gardening
# Understanding about the food dependence many countries in the world have. In the U.K. where I spent most of my life, the country is dependent on food from all over the world, the same is true for Barbados where my family is from.
# From a young age I realised that this was not good as it left any country open to the risk of the politics of other countries (as was seen with sanctions on Russia during the Ukraine war), and if supplies chains fell (as was seen in the 2019 covid-19 global pandemic).
# Around 2020's the world moved into caring about decentralisation and automation.
# Decentralisation:
# of money and assets - Bitcoin,
# and energy - Solar City Ltd.
# As someone who grew up experiencing the results of these issues I developed an attitude of taking action rather than just talking about the issue.
